HISTORY

Over the past 60+ years Dustex has evolved from a high efficiency cyclone supplier for the food industry to a single source air pollution control technology company.

Originally founded in Buffalo, New York in 1947, Dustex began as a designer & manufacturer of high efficiency cyclonic separators for the food industry. During the following decade, the company developed a line of dry fabric filters, marketed throughout North America. By the 1960’s, after being acquired by American Precision Industries, Dustex had become established as the industry leader in the design & manufacture of fully portable reverse air dust collectors for the asphalt & related aggregate industries. In 1984, key employees incorporated Dustex in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dustex continued to provide its customers with high quality and efficient Pre-Engineered Systems.

SYSTEMS

In 1998, Dustex made two major strategic changes to grow and serve the needs of several industries by creating an Engineered Systems Division for custom design of APC equipment and adding the use of a captive fabrication shop. The captive fabrication shop, Pickaway Machine, located in Kingston, Ohio, continues to solely fabricate for Dustex. Today, their Systems (Engineered Products) Division, located in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, has completed over 500 major installations through 2015. These installations include systems for military and university boiler flue gas filtration, glass furnace particulate and acid gas dry scrubbing, steel and foundry furnace fume control, cement nuisance and process particulate control, non-ferrous furnace and refining fume control, foundry cupola heat recovery and particulate control, aluminum recycle fume control, and acid gas dry scrubbing, rock products, coal handling, industrial boiler and other major markets with complete system design, gas cooling and filtering equipment, and field services.

From 2007 to 2014, Dustex continued to develop APC pre-engineered and engineered systems’ technologies, patenting these technologies and staying ahead of emissions regulations. In the interest of meeting all APC needs today and in the future, Dustex continues to grow. Sparstane Technologies, their most recent addition, enables the conversion of scrubber waste to saleable products.

Today, Dustex has evolved into a full-service designer & manufacturer of multi-pollution control systems with unparalleled in-house engineering expertise working both nationally & internationally. Dustex continues to operate with the owner and the leadership team’s daily involvement in customer interaction & project execution.
