What is Fipe

The Economic Research Institute Foundation – Fipe is a non-profit, private law organization created in 1973. Among its objectives is to support teaching and research institutions, public or private, in particular the Economics Department of the Faculty of Economics, Administration and Accounting at the University of São Paulo (FEA-USP). It has, today, outstanding performance in the areas of teaching, projects, research, and development of economic and financial indicators.

What does Fipe do?

Fipe analyzes economic and social phenomena based on the theoretical and methodological instruments of Economics, with the purpose of contributing to:

  • - the debate on Brazil's economic and social problems and the expansion of economic knowledge;
  • - the design of more efficient public and private contracts;
  • - the production of knowledge, data and high added value solutions;
  • - the formulation of economic policies and other public policies aimed at increasing well-being;
  • - economic growth, the strengthening of the productive system, the increase in the country's competitiveness, better income distribution and the elimination of poverty;
  • - the complementary training of high-level professionals through extension, improvement and postgraduate courses.

How it operates

To achieve its goals, Fipe has teams of specialized professionals, with extensive experience in the areas of teaching, projects and research, and an adequate structure to:

  • - collaborate with public and private institutions, national and foreign, in the elaboration, management and evaluation of economic and social development programs;
  • - promote courses, symposia, seminars, conferences and studies that encourage teaching and debate on economic theory and contribute to the improvement of professionals, companies, public administration and other civil society entities;
  • - support the dissemination of economic and related knowledge through technical publications, periodicals, monographs, internet and other communication channels;
  • - carry out projects and research required by the public and private sectors, within academic standards that simultaneously allow the production of information and the training of specialized personnel;
