ECPAT International
About

ECPAT is an expanding network of local civil society organisations and coalitions with one common goal – to end the sexual exploitation of children around the world.

ECPAT conducts cutting-edge research to build the collective understanding of what it will take to end the sexual exploitation of children. Together with the members and partners, they coordinate evidence-based advocacy at all levels to strengthen national justice and protection systems and increase investment in the fight against sexual exploitation of children.

At the heart of all the work are the voices of children, reflected across the research agenda, programmes and campaigns.

ECPAT began in 1990 as a campaign to End Child Prostitution in Asian Tourism. Since then, the ambitious mission has required us to build a very unique kind of organisation, mixing broad geographical coverage and first-hand experience of the issue with advocacy at national, regional and international levels, all informed by high quality research and analysis.

ECPAT works through a growing network of 97 civil society organisations in 88 countries.

The work and solid partnerships have earned us a reputation as a world-class expert on sexual exploitation of children. Governments and civil society organisations worldwide recognise ECPAT as the only international NGO network solely dedicated to the fight against sexual exploitation of children.

Since its establishment, ECPAT has won several high profile international awards, including the 2012 Asia Democracy and Human Rights Award and the 2013 Hilton Humanitarian Prize. ECPAT International also has Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).

The ECPAT International Secretariat is based in Bangkok, Thailand, where the ECPAT movement was born.
