Antonio López Llausàs, Catalan publisher, founded Editora y Distribuidora Hispanoamericana SA from his exile in Argentina, in December 1946, after having previously participated in the creation and management of Editorial Sudamericana in Buenos Aires.

EDHASA, the acronym with which everyone knows us, turns 70 in 2016, and throughout our history we have been characterized by the quality of our editions, most of them hardcover, and the dedication and care of our translations and texts .

Curiously, the same year 1946 that EDHASA was born in Barcelona, ​​Amparo Soler Gimeno, daughter of printers (Typography and Graphic Arts Soler) founded another publishing house in Madrid: Castalia. With the collaboration of Don Antonio Rodríguez Moñino, professor at the University of Berkeley, he conceived what would be the most awarded collection for Spanish philology to date: Clásicos Castalia. The Castalia Ediciones catalog (www.castalia.es), an essential meeting point for teachers, students and readers, has been an indelible part of the EDHASA catalog since 2008.

In all this time, EDHASA has become a benchmark in the publishing world, for two fundamental reasons: due to its more than 15 Nobel prizes published throughout history, and its highly prestigious collections and trajectory, such as Historical Narratives, Edhasa Literary or Essays and Biographies, along with other more innovative such as Elipse, Tusitala or Marlow; and also because it has been, and continues to be, a bridge between both sides of the Atlantic, a bridge between Spain and Latin America thanks to its headquarters in Buenos Aires, where it all began ...
