EDI Global is a socio-economic data collection and research firm which, since its foundation, has established a strong reputation within Africa and globally for high-quality survey design and data collection services, and for completing projects successfully, on-time and within budget.

Since the group’s foundation, in 2002, EDI Global has grown to be recognised as one of the most respected research houses in Africa and now has physical operations in Tanzania, Uganda and the UK.  Through these offices, EDI Global works with some of the world’s top research institutions to design, implement, manage and support a wide range of socio-economic surveys.  EDI Global’s team of survey experts not only implement surveys in Africa but also provide a range of support services including CAPI Support, Survey Design, Training and Data Management to projects in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.

In the past 15 years, EDI Global has implemented over 60 large scale surveys in Africa, covering wide geographic areas, large sample groups (3,000+), and exceeding 250,000 interviews. Since 2007, EDI Global has collected all data using Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) software on tablet computers. The types of surveys conducted include; numerous impact evaluations, randomised control trials, poverty assessments and panel surveys. EDI Global’s team has wide ranging data collection expertise including the design and implementation of surveys of households, communities, businesses, government officials, health facilities and schools.  Surveys conducted by EDI have covered topics including education, health, HIV, gender, agriculture and livestock, natural resources, infrastructure, access to finance, water & sanitation and social welfare/inclusion.  

EDI Global has developed its own CAPI data collection software, surveybe (www.surveybe.com) which can handle even the most intricate survey designs and questionnaire structures. Surveybe provides EDI Global and its clients with all they need to design electronic CAPI questionnaire, collect data, and export analysis-ready data in several formats.  

EDI Global’s client base includes: The World Bank, DFID, UNICEF, MIT, Harvard University, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), DANIDA, University of Oxford, International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and Uganda Bureau of Statistics.
