About

The Editorial Universitaria de Buenos Aires was born as a company on June 24, 1958. A series of propitious contexts were necessary for its foundation to be possible. The University of Buenos Aires was experiencing an extraordinary moment after the consolidation of its autonomy in 1958 thanks to the approval of the statute by the University Assembly. The rector chosen to lead the UBA in this process was Risieri Frondizi, brother of the then President of the Nation. It was a time of change, of incorporation of new features and of policy design that are still sustained: new careers were created, such as Pharmacy and Biochemistry, and new departments and research institutes. The Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences incorporated the first computer in Latin America by creating the Institute of Calculus.

Throughout the years, the fortunes of the publishing house remained very close to the ups and downs of political life. The alternations between constitutional and de facto governments determined the university situation and, more broadly, the reality of the country and, consequently, Eudeba experienced times of light and shadow.

At present, the publisher aspires to restore in some way that founding moment, the spirit of its initiators through the deployment of a continuous and intense editing task that translates into the incorporation to the catalog of approximately one hundred and fifty novelties per year among There are highly current investigations of university disciplines, highly topical essays, irreplaceable classics from various areas of knowledge and a methodical plan for translations to incorporate intellectual developments from around the world into the cultural universe of our country.
