Located in the heart of Gulshan, Dhaka, the Edward M. Kennedy (EMK) Center has served as Bangladesh’s flagship American Space since it first opened its doors in September 2012 at a previous address in Dhanmondi. In 2022, EMK moved to into its present location, which was custom-built to the most modern American Spaces guidelines.
The JAAGO Foundation, renowned for its youth-focused programs and network of volunteers across Bangladesh, is the EMK Center’s host and implementing partner for this American Space in Dhaka.
The center hosts an official EducationUSA advising center which offers Bangladeshi students and scholars free expert advice and information on higher education opportunities at accredited institutions in the United States.
The center also provides access to cutting-edge U.S. technology at its in-house recording studio, AR/VR lab, and a makerspace that showcase the American brands that are driving innovation in STEM, design, digital production, and the arts.
Like all American Spaces, EMK is also a hub for alumni of U.S. exchange programs and aspiring English language learners. The center also hosts one of the best performing arts, program, and exhibition spaces in Dhaka, with the goal of providing a platform for dialogue and partnerships for Bangladeshi and American changemakers who are powering the future of U.S.-Bangladeshi relations.
