ELKOL Sp. z o.o. is a private engineering company established in 1988, created by three engineers, railway specialists from Biuro Projektów Kolejowych (Railway Projects Office, BPK) in Katowice: Adam Zieliński, Piotr Dyllus and Józef Lis. The name of the company is composed of the first parts of the following words: ELektyczno – KOLejowa – Spółka.

Since the very beginning, ELKOL specialised in railway industry, with particular emphasis on designing and construction, repairs and modernisations of railway lines and stations, as well as sidetracks, in the scope of railway traffic control, power engineering, telecommunication and track systems.

As a part of general contracting, ELKOL also implements design and executive works for the construction industry (signal boxes, roads, car parks), water supply and sewage disposal industry (construction of renewal networks, as well as sewage, fire fighting, water, separators systems, and green water treatment plants), as well as constructs railway weights and broaching machines.
