An embassy at the service of links between France and Bosnia and Herzegovina
France was the first country to open an embassy in Sarajevo, right in the city's seat. Appointed in January 1993, the first ambassador, Mr. Henry Jacolin, presented his credentials on February 12, 1993.
Since then, a team of French diplomats and civil servants, and Bosnian-Herzegovinian professionals have been working to develop relations between our two countries, in all possible fields.
In a spirit of openness and mutual understanding, the embassy team gives life to the links that have been forged between people, businesses, administrations (states, regions, cities), associations (NGOs), creators (painters, writers), intellectuals, translators ... For this, the embassy implements cooperation projects, organizes events, and fosters a daily dialogue with the authorities and civil society of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Many areas of activity
Under the authority of the Ambassador , representative of the French State, several different services participate in the implementation of French action in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In Sarajevo itself, in addition to the diplomats working in the diplomatic chancellery (including a press and communication service ), there is a consular section , a cooperation and cultural action service and an internal security service .
The embassy also relies on an economic service based in Zagreb, and on a military mission and a French customs service , based in Belgrade.
In all these areas, it is indeed one and the same team, made up of French and Bosnian-Herzegovinians, who animates the actions of the embassy.
A network present in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar
In addition to the embassy, France is present through its cultural and educational network, which includes the French Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina , located in Sarajevo , Banja Luka and Mostar , Campus France spaces , hosted by the French Institute in these three cities, and the International French College of Sarajevo .
