Relations with Mexico

Diplomatic relations between Czechoslovakia and Mexico were established in 1922.

The establishment of an independent Czechoslovakia in 1918 led the new state to establish diplomatic relations, partly for political reasons, but mainly for commercial reasons. After the rupture of Austria-Hungary, Czechoslovakia lost an important exit for its products and services, and also had to look for new sources of raw materials. At the same time, there was a growing interest in strengthening the international status of the new state. Therefore, it is not surprising that Czechoslovakia, during the short interwar period of democratic existence between 1918 and 1939, established diplomatic relations with 52 countries in the world.
