For over 50 years, Enel has been bringing progress to people around the world. Since its founding in 1962, Enel has worked hard so that people, companies and nations can prosper through access to gas and electricity systems and services tailored to their needs.
To achieve this goal, they are always embracing new technologies to make their energy more reliable, affordable and sustainable — the introduction of the first smart meter and their role as a global leader in renewable energy production are examples of this.
They are now at the beginning of an exciting new era for energy, a new era of participation, where everyone is connected and has the opportunity to help address the world's greatest challenges.
Open Power to meet global challenges
In today's complex and constantly evolving world, they must multiply our impact and be open to truly face the world's great challenges.
That's why they're bringing our services to more people in more countries, empowering local economies and expanding access to energy.
And this is also why 'openness' is a key element of the Group's strategic and operational approach. For them, "Open Power" means tackling some of the biggest challenges facing the world.
Mission
Open Power means opening access to energy to more people; opening up the world of energy to new technologies; open up new ways of managing energy; open up new uses of energy; and open more partnerships. These ambitious goals are being pursued by them, with the passion of those who want to change the world. In detail, their mission is as follows:
Carbon neutral by 2040
They are committed to renewable energy sources, especially hydroelectric, wind, solar, geothermal, biomass and cogeneration plants. Together with their partners, they are developing technologies that respect the environment.
With regard to the decarbonization targets set out in the Paris Agreement and COP 26, Enel will anticipate its “Net Zero” commitment by ten years, from 2050 to 2040. This is for direct and indirect emissions, and without resorting to any offsetting measures , such as CO 2 removal technologies or nature-based solutions.
