Energinet.dk is the Danish national transmission system operator for electricity and natural gas. It is an independent public enterprise owned by the Danish state under the Ministry of Climate and Energy. Energinet.dk has some 570 employees, and its headquarters are located in Erritsø near Fredericia in Jutland. The gas division is located in Ballerup near Copenhagen.
The main tasks are to ensure efficient operation and development of the national electricity and gas infrastructure as well as ensuring equal access for all users of the infrastructure. Energinet.dk also plays a role in developing a carbon dioxide free energy system in Denmark.
Energinet.dk owns the natural gas transmission system and the 400 kV, 150 kV and 132 kV electricity transmission system and is the co-owner of the electrical interconnections to Norway, Sweden and Germany.
It owns the natural gas storage facility at Lille Torup in northern Jutland and has access to the natural gas storage facility at Stenlille in Zealand.
