About

Entrepueblos / Entrepobles / Entrepobos / Herriarte is an independent, secular, association for development cooperation, working in solidarity with the poor and exploited people of the developing countires in Latin America. In this work Entrepueblos necessary work particularly focus on those sectors and social groups most excluded, discriminated and impoverished, with a focus on gender and environmental sustainability perspective. 

Entrepueblos is an association of international cooperation, with a presence in several autonomous communities of the Spanish State. They also have representation in Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Cuba, Peru, Ecuador and Morocco. Currently over 1600 members and partners are part of the social base (approximately 60% women).
The participation of this social base in the daily work of Entrepueblos is open, direct and democratic channeled through the Regional Organizations. 

They work towards international solidarity, awareness and advocacy and development cooperation in the fields of education, health, human rights, women and children, infrastructure, agricultural production and community development among others.

What They Do

Their practical cooperation in various fields, which depending on the availability of each can actively participate:


Cooperation Projects

They support projects that originated and are managed by the organizations of the South. Their partners are organizations and NGOs in the countries in which they conduct their cooperation activities. Many were known for some time, others are more recent relationships, but all are built into the social fabric of the respective countries, with them they have a close cooperation. Detailed knowledge of the countries where they work and the accumulation of experience are criteria that are important to defining their areas of work

Entrepueblos partnership is structured around two thematic areas:

- Support to the sustainability of rural communities and food sovereignty

- Basic rights and services

Parallel to this they have defined two cross-cutting themes that they believe should govern the overall activity of Entrepueblos:

- Gender equity and empowerment of women

- Advocacy and grassroots organizing

These projects are mainly in the following countries: Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Cuba, Ecuador. Peru and Morocco.

 

Diffusion

They spread the social reality of the people with whom to cooperate, so that there is greater awareness of the causes of such inequality and injustice and global interdependence. A quarterly journal is published to spread the word.

Advocacy

Collaborating with different organizations and solidarity groups  to promote and participate in campaigns and lobbying and reporting of all actions and policies, whether governmental or private companies, which benefit the profit of large corporations at the expense of imposing social spending cuts, increased unemployment, alienation and destruction of natural resources, cuts in rights of disadvantaged populations, gender inequalities, the widening gap between rich and poor countries, and so on. They use the broad platform for reporting and advocacy, both state and continental or global level.
