Eskişehir Chamber of Industry

On November 1, 1968, the Eskişehir Chamber of Industry left the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where they had been under one roof, and started its activities as an independent Chamber to accelerate industrialization in the province and to deal more closely with the problems of industrialists.

From the first day of its establishment, the Eskişehir Chamber of Industry has always expressed the problems of the provincial and regional industrialists in the public and offered solutions and became one of the pioneer chambers of our country with its studies on the importance of industrialization.

The number of members, which was 85 in the first years of Eskişehir Chamber of Industry, has reached to 800 companies operating in various sectors. The companies that are still members of the Chamber continue their activities in 16 professional committees. The chamber management establishes the chamber council with 2 members appointed by these groups within themselves and determines the board of directors within this chamber.

Hüsnü Yerçil is the first Speaker of the Chamber. He continued this duty until 1974. Then Kazım Alanya took over the position and continued until 1979. From 1979 to September 2000, Mesut Erez served in this position. Mesut Erez is one of the most important figures in the political history of our country. Mesut Erez served as Minister of Industry, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister during the previous governments. As a result of the elections held in September 2000, Yavuz Zeytinoğlu was elected as the Chairman of the Assembly and he continued his duty until 2013. In 2013, İsmail Kunduracı was the President of the Assembly. With the elections held in April 2018, Süha Özbay has taken over the Ministry of Parliament.

The first Chairman of the Board of Eskişehir Chamber of Industry is the late İsmail Kanatlı. He worked between 1968-1972. In 1972-1974, Orhan Erden served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. In 1974, Mümtaz Zeytinoğlu was elected to this position. Mümtaz Zeytinoğlu's duty lasted until February 8, 1979, when he was killed in a traffic accident. This period is a period in which the name of Eskişehir Chamber of Industry is heard most in the national platform. Mümtaz Zeytinoğlu has made important contributions to the development of national industrial awareness in our country. After the death of Mümtaz Zeytinoğlu, Turgut Çuhacı and Metin Erözlü continued their duties for a short period.

Yavuz Zeytinoğlu was elected as the president in the elections held in November 1979 and continued this duty for 10 consecutive years. In the elections held in 1989, Savaş M. Özaydemir was elected as the Chairman of the Board of Eskişehir Chamber of Industry. He continued his duty for 29 years and made significant contributions to Eskişehir industry. In April 2018, Özaydemir left this important task to Celalettin Kesikbaş, who competed in the elections held in the same year, and was elected Chairman of the Board. Kesikbaş still continues this task.

Eskişehir Chamber of Industry has always held the importance of industrialization for the country and has seen it as the only way of development. Our Chamber is an institution that has adopted the duty of seriously addressing the issues concerning the development of the country within the framework of the powers and responsibilities given to it by the laws. This understanding has brought our Chamber to the level it deserves among professional organizations.
