Eurogroup for Animals
Uniting animal advocates across Europe
-They work to improve the welfare of animals by driving and delivering coordinated advocacy and campaigns at EU level.
-They use their knowledge and expertise to challenge EU decision-makers and bring about positive change.
-They magnify national initiatives and get their message across at EU level by uniting their members and working together.
-They exist because European citizens believe animals deserve a voice.
-For more than 35 years, they have worked with their today 54 members in 24 Member States to measurably improve the protection of animals.
Animals will only truly be respected as sentient beings across all 28 Member States if comprehensive and effective EU legislation is in place. They strive for the EU to adopt a One Welfare approach that values animal and human welfare equally.
Mission, a triple role
Their primary focus is to improve animal welfare as quickly as possible by lobbying EU institutions to deliver better legislation and enforcement.
As the only pan-European umbrella organisation for animal welfare, they direct the national influence of each of our members into a powerful group network, creating opportunities for change across Europe that cannot be achieved individually.
Their mission has three strands:
Representing civil society
They represent their members, and also animal welfare generally, at EU level, working with EU stakeholder and expert groups as a trusted partner.
Campaigning to drive change
Their pan-European campaigns harness the power of public mobilisation to connect citizens with EU decision-makers and create new animal advocacy opportunities.
Fostering cohesion, exchanging best practices and disseminating knowledge
They bring together people, knowledge and expertise, and develop their members' capacities to help them achieve their aims, in pursuit of their common vision.See more
