The European Economic and Trade Office, established in 2003, is responsible for all policy areas of the relationship between the EU and Taiwan. The Office is also in charge of EU relationships with Taiwanese partners in civil society, think tanks and academia. Through active public diplomacy, theyalso work to increase the visibility, awareness and understanding of the EU in Taiwan.
Their mission is to:
- Represent, promote and advance the interests and values of the European Union in Taiwan.
- Develop and strengthen bilateral relations in trade and investment, policy cooperation, culture, education, research and innovation.
- Coordinate and work with representatives of the EU Member States in Taiwan on matters of interest to the European Union where relevant, through cooperation with Taiwan to promote the EU’s interests and values in the region.
