About

Finance Uncovered started life in 2012 as a Tax Justice Network programme funded by Joseph Rowntrees Charitable Trust and Oxfam Novib. In April 2015, they incorporated as a company limited by guarantee and separated from TJN at the end of 2016.  They are very grateful for the support and understanding TJN gave their initiative.

They currently receive grants from the Lorana Sullivan Foundation, the National Endowment for Democracy, the Natural Resource Governance Initiative, Open Society Foundations and the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation. In the last year, they also derived income from training they provided to Action Aid, Public Services International and Transparency International.

This year they will deliver two four-day courses in London for over 60 journalists. Attendees will include around 30 journalists on full scholarships from the developing and emerging world.

Finance Uncovered employs two full-time and contracts two part-time investigative journalists who work with their 207-strong global network on cross-border collaborations focusing on illicit finance. If you would like to know more about their work, please get in touch using the form below.

Their mission is to increase the quantity and quality of media coverage on global financial flows, with a particular focus on tax abuse, corruption and money laundering. They deliver world class training in financial investigations from leading practitioners.

The 207 journalists and campaigners they have trained are a global network covering 69 countries. They leverage that network to create international collaborative projects which break new ground in investigative journalism. Half their members come from the developing world and they focus on building capacity in developing world newsrooms.

Finance Uncovered is a member of the Global Investigative Journalism Network. In addition they work with publishers directly across the globe to deliver their stories and provide support to NGOs working on investigative projects. Below are some of their partners.
