Financial Access is a financial services firm, focused exclusively on frontier and emerging markets. They provide consulting, financial advisory and financing services to diverse clients including (impact) investors, PE firms, banks, specialised non-bank or microfinance institutions, international donor organisations and NGOs, development finance institutions and private companies.
Their emphasis is on financial sector development. They design, build and support the development of sustainable finance businesses, financial products and institutional capacity in areas such as SME finance, Agri-finance at farmer and higher value chain levels, as well as multi-sector supply chain finance solutions. They support financing and investment transactions in the financial sector.
They originate from the ING Group and were taken private in 2007. Their background is strongly biased to financial services operations, and they have successfully executed more than 250 assignments in over 40 countries. They aim to create sustainable impact and maintain environmentally and socially responsible financing, governance and advisory standards.
Three Focus Areas
1. Agri-Finance Solutions
They help small-scale farms and agri-businesses to get appropriate and climate-smart finance, in the agricultural sectors and more broadly, through their own operating companies in Africa and Southeast Asia serving smallholder and SME clients. They also provide consulting support in these areas to donors and sponsors.
2. SME Working-Capital
They make working capital easy for SMEs in East Africa. Their supply chain finance companies address the Missing Middle issues with practical access to financing in East Africa.
3. Finance & Investment Advisory
They also advise financial institutions – management, owners or regulators — on lending, risk, finance and operational issues. They work with investors, financiers and regulators in financial services to improve the commercial viability and impact of their businesses and to get deals accomplished.
