Credit Rating
FinBi provides credit rating services through MERIS (Middle East Rating and Investors Service) established through a joint venture agreement with Moody's Investors Service. MERIS is licensed to conduct rating activities in Egypt and Middle East.
We use a credit rating approach that is comprehensive and straightforward, based on Moody's know-how and methodologies.
MERIS has rated companies operating in diverse sectors in the Egyptian economy including tourism, construction (steel & cement), automotive, trading, consumer goods, real estate, to list just a few, as well as different banks (both publicly-!and privately-owned banks).
Financial & Economic Services
FinBi has extensive experience in providing financial and economic services to a wide array of clientele including government, banks, corporate, and international institutions. The services of FinBi include:
- Securing finance on behalf of its customers, starting with project appraisal, economic feasibility analysis, credit analysis, negotiation of loans with banks (terms and conditions of loans including interest and repayment schemes), etc.
- Institutional Building and setting the relevant operational and financial systems and mechanics.
- Privatization and related issues, where FinBi was among the core team selected by USAID and the World Bank to mobilize and manage the privatization process in Egypt in the mid nineties.
- Debt restructuring, where it worked with several public enterprises enabling them to float in a private placement. The strategies set by FinBi included partial debt write-off, bank negotiations strategies, and financial restructuring.
- Capital market, FinBi played a significant role in the reform of the Capital market in Egypt through addressing structural weaknesses of the Egyptian capital market and building on recent capital market gains.
- Democracy and Governance Good Governance is crucial for institution growth. Ensuring the existence of systems and environment enabling the presence of this good governance is becoming one of the man activities of FinBi through participating in different projects with International and local institutions.
- Information and Communication Technology services. Considering the expansion of IT with an increasing weight of its existence and development as well as its significant participation in the business growth, FinBi places an interest in Information Technology consulting services though taking part in several International and local projects.
Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Finance Services (M/SMEs)
FinBi has the experience of addressing both the financial and non-financial services conducive to the development of the M/SMEs cluster at the project strategic and implementation level.
- Developing different Micro and SME financial models with their relevant technical and operational structures.
- Establish and/or develop specialized M/SMEs financial institutions and/ or creating specialized M/SMEs units inside interested financial institutions with the relevant technical assistance to develop the needed business plan and financial projections as well as building the institutional capacity of the involved unit.
- Technical Assistance and training for MFIs (Banks & NGOs) in areas of management, financial analysis, accounting, MIS, and outreach techniques at the level of managers, credit officers and Finance department.
- Monitoring and Evaluating the financial and operation performance of MFIs including the portfolio size & quality, default, break-even analysis, cost of fund, spread, outreach growth indicators and sustainability ratios and analysis.
