Banco Alimentare comprises 21 food banks throughout the country and the Foundation, which sets the strategic guidelines and maintains institutional relations and has a representative role at national and international level.
Their vision and mission
Their activity, like that of all Food Banks in Europe, to which they belong, aims to contribute to alleviating the problem of hunger, marginalisation and poverty, as well as to promote the fight against food waste for social purposes, in cooperation with national and European institutions. They do this by coordinating and helping to organise the recovery of surpluses from the food supply chain, by the Banco Alimentare Organisations which, in turn, distribute the food free of charge to the Territorial Partner Organisations that take in people and families in need.
