Placed under the authority of the French Embassy in Ukraine, the French Institute of Ukraine (IFU), located geographically in Kiev, was created in 1994 on the basis of an intergovernmental agreement. Like the some 150 French cultural institutions abroad managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, the IFU's mission is to promote the influence of French language and culture and to implement sustainable cooperation with the actors of the educational, academic, cultural and artistic world in Ukraine.
The IFU provides, in its premises located in Kiev at 84 Hontchara Street, French courses which are aimed at a very wide audience and whose main objective is to enable learners to express themselves in various communication situations. daily. Different certifications (DELF, DALF, TEF, TEFAQ etc.) are also proposed to give everyone the opportunity to validate their level of knowledge of the French language.
The IFU has a media library with a large fund of French-language books available to the public. It is a unique space in Ukraine, embellished with an information center on contemporary France that aims to highlight trends, places, events that make news in France. A special area is dedicated to children.
