The Friends of the British Council builds strategic partnerships to support the British Council's work around the world. Working with the United States and international corporations, foundations, organizations and individuals, they identify synergies, share knowledge, leverage resources and contribute financialy to British Council programs around the world.
Their goal is to customize and add value to these partnerships and projects, resulting in meaningful relationships between the British Council and its key stakeholders.
They engage with all levels of society, including civil and community leaders, influencers, educators, scientists, artists, business leaders, and the media. Not only that, they work extensively with marginalized and vulnerable populations such as women, at-risk youth, early learners, areas of rural poverty and post-conflict zones. They are also majorly involved with education and work with secondary and higher education sectors and with young people starting out their careers.
The British Council works in 110 countries touching 600 million lives each year through programs in education, the arts, english, sport, skills and community development.
Friends of the British Council USA identifies and secures sector experts, collaborative institutions, and funding partners that share the global development goals and values of the British Council.
The British Council delivers a range of programs around the world that aim to develop entrepreneurship, skills for employability, justice, security, civil and human rights for all.
In addition, the education team delivers learning programs promoting digital literacy, leadership, communication and other 21st century skills. The education programs also cater to a wide spectrum of learners, from young school children to postgraduates.
By working in the arts sector, the British Council nurtures individual and institutional creative talent, develop innovative, high-quality events, and collaborations with artists and institutions across the globe.
