The National Foundation for Development (FUNDE) is an institution that conducts research, formulates socioeconomic policies, lobbies and promotes development, with its target population being the most disadvantaged sectors of society. FUNDE was created as a research and reflection center with the purpose of contributing to the economic and social transformations needed at the end of a long civil war and beginning of a period of peace. Since its founding, FUNDE clearly defined the reach for these transformations: beneficial to the excluded, dispossessed and vulnerable sectors of Salvadoran society.
Generate thought, analysis and development proposals, and influence different socioeconomic actors and centers of power to improve the living standards of society, particularly amongst the poor and marginalized sectors.
Be a leading think tank and advocate in the field of development.
After many years of work in meeting such objectives, FUNDE has established itself as a solid institution with a marked presence and national influence such that it is considered one of the key points of reference in the national debate on development issues, as well as has achieved an important international presence and recognition.
FUNDE has developed itself into an institution with its own personality and ideas, is independent and respected by various sectors, and has convening power and capacity to facilitate consensus-building spaces. FUNDE has been equipped with strong capacities and perspectives to contribute to the transformations the country needs.
As such, in this transitory period the country is going through since the signing of the Peace Accords, FUNDE´s greatest challenge and responsibility is to contribute, efficiently and effectively, to the generation of dynamics and agreements around development.
