FUSE is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization with a mission to enable local government to more effectively address the biggest challenges facing urban communities.
FUSE partners with civic leaders to identify pressing strategic challenges and then recruits entrepreneurial professionals to serve in executive-level fellowships across local government. FUSE Fellows are uniquely positioned to achieve transformational impact across issue areas such as education, health, poverty, public safety, infrastructure, economic development and the environment.
With the support of partners like Omidyar Network and The James Irvine Foundation, FUSE is demonstrating the potential of cross-sector collaboration as a vehicle for community-based problem solving.
FUSE enables local governments to more effectively address their most pressing challenges. They do this by scoping fellowship projects and recruiting, training and placing private-sector leaders into yearlong assignments within local government agencies. Since 2011, FUSE has placed over 60 Fellows in 15 cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco, San José, Seattle and New Orleans.
FUSE selects Fellows through a national executive search for each project and receives over 1,000 applications each year. On average, Fellows enter the program with 15+ years of private-sector leadership experience.
Fellows apply their extensive experience to help cities develop innovative solutions to issue areas such as transportation and infrastructure, data and government reform and health and human services.
