GHD is one of the world’s leading engineering, architecture and environmental consulting companies. Wholly-owned by its people, GHD is dedicated to understanding and helping clients achieve their goals in the global markets of water, energy and resources, environment, property and buildings, and transportation. The network of 6500 professionals collaborate to improve the built, economic and social environment of the communities in which they operate. Established in 1928 and privately owned by their people, GHD operates across five continents – Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America – and the Pacific region. They employ more than 8500 people in 200+ offices to deliver projects with high standards of safety, quality and ethics across the entire asset value chain. Driven by a client-service led culture, they connect the knowledge, skill and experience of their people with innovative practices, technical capabilities and robust systems to create lasting community benefits. Committed to sustainable development, GHD improves the physical, natural and social environments of the many communities in which they operate. They are guided by their workplace health, safety, quality and environmental management systems, which are certified by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance to the relevant international standards (ISO and OHSAS). In alignment with the global demands of water, energy and urbanisation, their aim is to exceed the expectations of their clients and contribute to their success. PROUD TO BE EMPLOYEE OWNED Their robust and dynamic business model has enabled GHD to grow into one of the world’s leading engineering, architecture, environmental consulting and construction services companies. They are one of the top six 100 percent employee-owned companies in the industry and are proud to be unique in this way. With one in every four of their people being a shareholder, GHD does not have any external ownership – the sustained growth, direction and success of their company is determined by the people who work at GHD. This allows them to plan for the long term, setting strategies that enable growth and develop some of the best technical capabilities in the world. GHD has nearly 90 years of history and capability, with 8500 people operating across 200 offices globally. Their client-service led culture has been developed through both organic growth and mergers. Their culture is supported by their values of Safety, Teamwork, Respect and Integrity, empowering their people to represent the company at a local level. It is their shareholders that take these values to a deeper level – committed to client service excellence and connected by the special bond of proprietorship. Their people are their investors and believe passionately that private ownership positively impacts how they perform as an entity; their interactions with clients, the systems they use and ultimately how they pursue growth and opportunities. Everything they do is calibrated with the level of passion and professional pride associated with being private. What’s more, the inter-generational knowledge transfer and mentoring that the structure offers is invaluable. Quite often on projects they can have professionals with more than 20 years’ experience with the company working alongside graduates – this is a powerful combination, and one that emphasises the value of their offering to clients. In addition their shareholders realise that they have a responsibility to hold and then pass on shares to the next generation. As their people help build their business, they also create legacies that develop a ‘life of their own’. This personal commitment to create value ensures that clients benefit from innovative and responsive service. Their brand has been protected through multiple inter-generational changes in leadership over the course of their history. Their shareholders feel strongly that they are temporary custodians of the company, so their model of employee ownership is highly sustainable. They provide a distinctive alternative for talented people who are not satisfied with just working for a great company, but are also keen to be a part of creating an enduring legacy of ownership for themselves and younger colleagues. In July 2014, CRA and GHD joined together to create a global leader in engineering, environmental consulting, and construction services. The result is a company that is more than 8500 people strong, with 4000 employees in North America alone. The goal of this merger is to build on the strengths of two leading companies to create a global team, adding significant growth and scale to our business, while retaining the advantages of our private, employee-ownership business model. On July 1 2015, CRA changed its name to GHD and we are now operating as one company. Together we hope to provide our clients with a deeper and more diverse talent pool, across a broader geographic footprint, while maintaining the high level of service and responsiveness for which we are known. The merger includes all of CRA and its family of companies, including Inspec-Sol. See the tabs below more information on our combined business.
