Arab Orient Insurance Co. was established in 1996 as a public shareholding Jordanian company. The company joined the Gulf Insurance Group in 2013 bearing the name gig - Jordan. This group is deemed to be one of the largest and most diverse insurance groups in the Middle EAST and North Africa MENA Region, with its headquarters based in Kuwait.

gig - Jordan has always been keen on the development of its insurance services thus becoming one of the most significant entrepreneurial companies in the insurance sector until today. It offers a number of insurance solutions such as Medical insurance, Motor insurance , General and Engineering insurance, Marine insurance, as well as Travel insurance among other types of insurance that include a comprehensive and complementary coverages.

The headquarters of the company is based in the capital Amman. Besides, there are a number of branches in and outside Amman namely the Boulevard Branch, Mecca Street Branch , Marka Branch, Abdali Branch, Dahiat Al Ameer Rashed Branch (eighth circle), in addition to Irbid Branch and Aqaba Branch.

The company witnesses a remarkable stable growth supported by the distinguished reinsurance companies. Moreover, the company prides being a world classified insurance company. Furthermore, gig Jordan has proved its capabilities and experience in the insurance sector for it has been the first company to be granted B+ (good) by the international rating company A.M. Best in 2006.

In August 2019, A.M. Best Rating Services has upgraded the issuer credit rating of gig - Jordan from bbb to bbb+ and affirmed the financial strength rating of B++ with a stable outlook for both ratings. This came as an indication of the strength of the company in many ways, the most important of which is the solid financial position and the strong operating performance of the company.
