Girl Rising is a global campaign for girls’ education and empowerment.
They use the power of storytelling to share the simple truth that educating girls can transform societies. Their mission is to change the way the world values girls, ensure that girls’ education is part of the mainstream conversation and inspire action.
They focus specifically on girls as a range of societal, physical and cultural norms make it all the more likely that girls will grow up uneducated, underemployed, married early, among other things, as compared to boys.
Educated girls stand up for their rights, marry and have children later, educate their own children, and their families and communities thrive.
Removing barriers such as early marriage, gender-based violence, domestic slavery and sex trafficking means not only a better life for girls, but a safer, healthier and more prosperous world for all.
Incredible organizations around the world are working to provide schools, scholarships and other resources for girls. However, far fewer are working to change beliefs and mindsets to ensure that girls are able to access those resources.
This is where Girl Rising comes in.
