St Helena Government’s (SHG) Vision is to make St Helena a great place to live, learn, work, visit and invest. Its mission is to improve the lives of all within its community and help the Island thrive is the responsibility of its eight directorates:
The Airport Directorate delivers SHG’s requirements in the Airport operations phase and comprises Airport Operations, Airport Development and Airport Support sections.
Children & Adults Social Care works with key agencies – Health, Police, Education and Housing- to promote the wellbeing and safety of vulnerable children and adults in the community of St Helena.
Corporate Services is involved in all aspects of St Helena Government and underpins, leads and empowers operational delivery and strategic direction.
The Education Directorate strives to provide an inclusive world-class education system with varied and flexible pathways for all to achieve which embraces St Helena’s culture and is tailored to its needs and future development.
Environment, Natural Resources & Planning’s portfolio responsibilities include environment, agriculture, fisheries, forestry and planning and building control who all work towards protecting and enhancing its natural environment by committing to sustainable and accountable growth of its natural capital.
The Health Directorate has overall responsibility for the Island’s health care through key services including Medical, nursing and community care services, Pharmacy and Laboratory services and Dental Services.
The newly developed Infrastructure & Transport Directorate provides a sustainable and efficient Crown Estates service to meet the needs of St Helena’s development.
St Helena Police provides safety and security to St Helena and those who live, work and visit the Island. The Directorate is diverse and comprises the Police, Immigration, Fire and Rescue, Sea Rescue, Prison and Search and Rescue Services as well as Emergency Planning and Licensing.
