About

The Rural Development Support Group (GADRU) is a non-profit institution founded on November 16, 1992 which works in rural development.

The main actor in rural development is the peasant family itself which, from generation to generation, has ensured its survival and that of the Haitian nation. The first right of the peasant family is to eat well and to be proud of its work. The peasant family needs to be supported to fulfill its primary role in improving its living conditions.

Vision

Contribute to the building of an inclusive, prosperous, just and democratic society which facilitates the well-being of peasant families through their access to social, economic and cultural possibilities, their empowerment for the creation and transmission of new possibilities to future generations .

Mission

GADRU is a sustainable rural development institution whose mission is to promote local initiatives, train agro-ecological leaders, guide institutions and facilitate interaction between them.

Their specific objectives

  • collaborate in the promotion of peasant families through training and organizational activities.
  • work to improve the living conditions of peasant families from productive and profitable activities.
  • promote the participation and integration of women in rural development.
  • stimulate the protection and defense of the environment for sustainable development in the country.
  • Encourage the organization of peasant families for the defense of their social, economic, cultural and political rights.
