HEBN Publishers Plc (formerly Heinemann Educational Books (Nigeria) Plc) was established in Nigeria as a sales outlet of Heinemann Educational Books, UK in 1962. The company was incorporated in 1969.

The company publishes and markets books which span all levels of education, that is, Pre-Primary, Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools and Tertiary level as well as leisure and general readership and has children’s literature titles and general books on leisure, contemporary socio-political and economic issues, etc. In particular, we are the publishers of the outstandingly successful Nigerian Integrated Science Project (NISP), a junior secondary school (JSS) Integrated Science text (now Nigerian Basic Science Project) produced by the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN) and published locally in 1971. This has now metamorphosed into Nigerian Basic Science Today.

Textbooks and other instructional materials are indispensable tools for education and indeed for teaching and learning. They are also the vital ingredients of socio-cultural and economic development. Therefore making them available is a great challenge. To this end, and as partners in progress in the development of education, our company collaborates with stakeholders in making educational materials available and affordable in schools and colleges  at the right quantity, quality and variety.
