To meet the growing needs of customers in Vietnam, the company has decided to expand production, improve the supply to the Vietnamese market. In August 2008, the second motorcycle factory specialized in producing high-end scooters and motorcycles with a capacity of 500,000 units per year, was inaugurated in Vietnam.
In March 2005, Honda Vietnam officially received the license of the Ministry of Planning and Investment to allow automobile assembly production in Vietnam.
This is an important milestone marking the development of the company. After 1 year and 5 months, Honda Vietnam has successfully built a factory, established a dealer network and launched sales training programs.
Honda Vietnam Co., Ltd. plans to build the third two-wheeler manufacturing plant in Vietnam with an estimated investment of $120.5 million. The plant will cover 270,000 square meters at Dong Van 2 Industrial Zone in Ha Nam province and Honda Vietnam has already signed contract with the Vietnam Investment Development Group (VID Group) to lease land for the facility.
Construction of the plant, designed to produce 500,000 units a year, is scheduled for completion late 2012. Ha Nam is around 100 kilometers far from the province of Vinh Phuc, where Honda Vietnam is operating two other motorcycle production plants with a combined output of two million units per year. Its investment for the second factory that mainly produces scooters including Air Blade, SH, Click and Lead was $65 million.
