About

The Horticulture Collaborative Research Support Program (Horticulture CRSP) builds global partnerships for fruit and vegetable research to improve livelihoods in developing countries. This research program is managed by the University of California, Davis with funding from USAID.

 

Horticulture CRSP, with the support of USAID, provides funding to:

  • realize the opportunities of horticultural development
  • improve food security
  • improve nutrition and human health
  • provide opportunities for diversification of income
  • advance economic and social conditions of the rural poor, particularly women

 

Background

UC Davis leads an international effort to help developing countries out of poverty through improved marketing and production of high-value horticultural crops. Established by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Horticulture Collaborative Research Support Program supports projects to improve the livelihoods of the worlds poor and builds on needs highlighted in the Global Horticulture Assessment.

 

Projects overview

Horticulture CRSP has funded 61 projects in more than 30 countries so far. We support horticultural research that builds local institutional capacity while addressing issues of poverty, health, nutrition and gender.

 

In addition to the projects listed below, Horticulture CRSP also pairs graduate students with organizations in developing countries each year for Trellis Fund projects.
