HPL had the largest market share in the market for electricity energy meters in India in fiscal 2015, with one of the widest portfolios of meters in India and the fifth largest market share for LED lamps during the corresponding period. HPL is also the oldest manufacturer of LV switchgear in India with nearly 50% market share in changeover switches in fiscal 2015, and has an established presence in the market for CFLs, with increasing focus on manufacture and supply of LED lamps, and wires and cables.HPL has over 90 branch offices and representative offices spread across India with over 2,000 authorized dealers who sell our products to over 12,000 retailers. HPL has a manpower team comprising 1,943 people and also has presence overseas.

Their mission is to provide the latest and the best technology product in the field of Switchgear, Electronic Meters, Wire & Cables and Lighting.
They plan to expand their business and capture growth opportunities through initiatives of the Government of India such as private participation in the transmission segment and development of the National Power Grid to boost growth in the T&D industry and various plans. The 'Housing for all' initiative and by facilitating the domestic production in the Indian electric equipment industry. They believe that these initiatives of the Government will drive the demand for domestic and industrial electric equipment, including for electric equipment that we manufacture. The UDAY Scheme of the Government of India would result in added emphasis on improvements in operational efficiency including through mandatory use of smart metering solutions, up gradation of transformers and meters, implementing energy efficiency measures like efficient LED bulbs, agricultural pumps, fans and air conditioners, amongst others. These measures are expected to reduce the average AT&C Loss from around 22% to 15% and eliminate the gap between ARR and the ACS by fiscal 2019.
They propose to increase their geographical reach and expansion of addressable market through expanding their network of authorized dealers or distributors, presence with institutional and corporate customers including OEMs and developers of high end residential and commercial project developers in India.
They propose to strengthen customer base with focus on increasing customer spend on their products by increasing the volume of sale through authorized dealers through various promotional activities, including product launches, electrician meets, exhibitions aimed at creating awareness for their products amongst their authorized dealers and through advertisements in the print and electronic media to increase acceptance of their products amongst their end-consumers. They also plan to introduce products at different price points to increase the attractiveness of their products to end-consumers across market segments.
