Hubberts Industries is a family owned business that dates back to 1899 when the founder, Walter Hubbert, opened a butcher shop on Queen Street in Toronto. In 1901 Walter moved his operation to Ossington Avenue and his six sons joined the business.
Of the six sons, Gordon took the lead role. In 1960 Gordon’s son Ken joined the family business and became a full partner in 1968. Today he is still at the helm as the CEO. Ken took the company from a small shop operation to a full blown production facility and was greatly assisted by Ray Graham, a friend and colleague, who worked side by side with Ken for over 35 years.
When Ken’s son, Bruce, joined the Company in 1986 he started in the plant and learned the business from the ground up. Bruce has been the driving force behind developing the export market. Ken’s step son, Craig Simpkins, was brought on board in 1988 and followed a similar path progressing to Systems Manager.
Hubberts business philosophy has remained the same throughout 4 generations:
