HQAI’s objective is to improve the Quality and Accountability of organisations working with people in need through the provision and promotion of meaningful and adapted independent quality assurance. Its services are intended to build capacity in the sector and provide consistent measurable data in the delivery of quality action, thus improving principled, accountable, efficient provision of aid to vulnerable and at-risk populations. To all its stakeholders, HQAI is an accountable, open and trustworthy partner, which applies the internationally recognised ground rules of auditing that are impartiality, competence, responsibility, openness, confidentiality and responsiveness to complaints. Their policies, procedures and tools for independent quality assurance follow relevant ISO standards requirements and HQAI's accreditation is under way: Accreditation is the independent evaluation of certification bodies against recognised standards to ensure their impartiality, competence and consistency. HQAI is in the process of being accredited against the ISO/IEC 17065:2012 standard for bodies providing audit and certification against products, processes and services. Through the accreditation HQAI can objectively demonstrate that, as a certification body, it complies with best practice and is competent to deliver a consistently reliable and impartial service which meets the internationally recognised standards. HQAI has developed robust tools to measure efficiently where an organisation stands in relation to the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) on Quality and Accountability. Tools related to other standards may be developed in the future. VISION Organisations that work with vulnerable and at-risk people and communities are accountable, act effectively and in a timely manner, and are informed by the perspectives of the people they work with. MISSION HQAI provides humanitarian organisations with professional third-party quality assurance services grounded in feedback from vulnerable and at-risk people and communities. OBJECTIVES Demonstrate accountability to vulnerable and at-risk populations, donors, the general public and other stakeholders, by providing independent quality assurance services for organisations that work with people and communities in need. Through the collection, analysis and dissemination of data, influence the practice of organisations that work with vulnerable and at-risk people and communities. Position HQAI as a timely, relevant innovation for organisations that work with vulnerable and at-risk people and communities. Establish and maintain HQAI as an independent and financially sustainable non-profit organisation.
