Hyundai Asan was established in February of 1999 in the same year that the late chairman Jeong Ju Young launched the “North Korea campaign including his gift of herd of cattle” to the North and the signing of the happened and “Geumgang-san Project Agreement” made by the late Jeong Ju Young, the honorary chair-president in 1998. Hyundai Asan, despite of its short history, has accomplished remarkable outcomes, starting from the sailing of “Geumgang,” a sightseeing cruise, in November 1998, to the construction commencement of Kaesong Industrial District in June 2003, to a land journey to Geumgang-san in September 2003, to Nae-geumgang tour in June 2007, and to pilot exploration of Baekdu-san tour in October 2007.
With its business areas including the tourism business expanding its projects from Geumgang-san, Kaesong, to Baekdu-san, where emerge as the world tourist attractions-though currently suspended-; Kaesong Industrial District implementing the developmental plan covering 20 million pyeong by stages with a goal of the largest economic and distribution special district in Northeast Asia; and logistics, trade, agricultural cooperation, and culture and humanity support projects between South and North Korea, Hyundai Asan is paving the way to embody the national economy community through coexistence and cooperation between two Koreas.
It also enhances the fundamentals of domestic businesses and tries to diversify the profit sources for stable development of ECSNK. The tourism business has received good recognition for “Unification Experience Program” for students since the “Hyundai PLZ Tour”-started in May 2009-redefinedthe ecology and history of DMZ areas. With that, it enlarges its business area to overseas tourism development. The domestic construction area has also produced great outcome with its aggressive marketing from public works to housing construction including urban housing. In terms of other business areas, Hyundai Asan works on various domestic and overseas logistics and service projects including KOICA international cooperation projects, devoting all its strength to all prospective new business.

Support for family reunions
As a symbolic place of peace between the two Koreas, Hyundai Asan has been providing the Mt. Kumgang resort as a venue for family reunions.
Humanitarian efforts for North Korea
Volunteer work
Since the second half of 2005, Hyundai Asan has tried to participate in more volunteering activities for social welfare facilities such as childcare and maintenance.
Connecting a company and a community
By establishing ties with the Chodo First Village in Goseong-gun County, Gangwon Province, Hyundai Asan helps with their farming and purchasing of products to promote their economy.
Inviting the neglected people
Hyundai Asan often invites displaced people, homeless senior citizens, orphans and other underprivileged individuals to special events in North Korea.
