ÎCS "Premier Energy Distribution" SA is the largest private operator of the electricity distribution system in the Republic of Moldova. The enterprise serves an area of ​​about 70% of the country's territory, in 20 of the 37 districts and in the municipality of Chisinau, distributing electricity to over 930,000 consumers in the center and south of the country.

The company has a vast European experience of more than two decades in the electrical field, implementing the best European management practices and standards and investing over 315 million euros in the modernization and expansion of electrical networks to improve efficiency and increase the quality of services. Beyond the obvious benefits for customers and the positive effect on the company's operational results, this effort is also reflected in the direct contribution to the development of the Moldovan economy.

Short history

The company's activity on the Moldovan energy market began on February 7, 2000, when the Spanish company Union Fenosa International acquired through an international tender three of the five electricity supply companies, managed by the state at that time, which had been put up for sale through an offer from the Government: Î.CS RE Chişinău SA, Î.CS RED Centru SA, and Î.CS RED Sud SA

Through an efficiency decision in 2008, they merged under the single name of Î.CS "Red Union Fenosa" SA. With that identity, the enterprise continued to be part of the international group Gas Natural Fenosa, resulting from the merger in Spain in the same year, 2008, of the entities Union Fenosa and Gas Natural, with the social name Gas Natural SDG. In Moldova, the Gas Natural Fenosa trademark was launched on May 10, 2011.

Acting according to the legal provision, stipulated in particular in art. 54 para. (5) of the Law on electricity no. 124-XVIII of 23.12.2009 of the Republic of Moldova, starting from January 1, 2015, Î.CS "Red Union Fenosa" SA legally separates the electricity distribution activity from the electricity supply activity at regulated rates. Thus, the activity of supplying electricity at regulated rates was further ensured by the company Î.CS "Gas Natural Fenosa Furnizare Energie" SRL, being the legal successor of Î.CS "Red Union Fenosa" SA In 2018, following of a global rebranding, Gas Natural Fenosa becomes Naturgy. The change did not extend to the two Moldovan enterprises, but they were part of the Spanish Naturgy group until their acquisition by the new owner. 

The year 2019 was one of transformation in the history of the largest private electricity distribution company in the Republic of Moldova. In August 2019, the Naturgy energy group completed the sale-purchase transaction of the company Î.CS "Red Union Fenosa" SA with the international group Duet Private Equity Limited.
