About

IHK Nürnberg für Mittelfranken (Nuremberg Chamber for Commerce and Industry) is an entrepreneurial organization to promote economic development. An independent organization, IHK provides services to its member companies, the state and the region. Organized as a public corporation, the IHK represents balancing the concerns of the entire economy.  

The Nuremberg CCI is one of 80 German Chambers of Industry and Commerce. Its head organisation is the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Deutsche Industrie- und Handelskammertag / DIHK) in Berlin. The Chamber closely cooperates with the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (Auslandshandelskammern / AHK) as well as with representatives of German commerce in more than 70 countries. 

The 80 German Chambers of Industry and Commerce represent the interests of 3.6 million member companies from commerce, industry and the service sector to public authorities in their region and offer extensive services to them. By means of publications and numerous events as well as individual advice, the member companies receive important direction for their business activities abroad. This includes particular information about the market in more than 120 countries, questions on market-access, the mediation of international business contacts, import and export regulations, information about customs duties and assistance in setting up business and joint ventures abroad. In addition, the CCI-member companies and individuals receive certificates of origin and other written documents indispensable for the transport of goods in foreign countries from their local Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

What the association stands for

The Nuremberg Chamber of Commerce and Industry is an entrepreneurial organisation for economic support. As an independent self-administration of the economy the association offers services for their member companies, for the state and the region. The company are organised as a body incorporated under public law with a statutory contract and represent the concerns of the entire industry in a balanced environment.
 

The association takes action on behalf of the member companies:

    • As critical partner of policy-makers, they work within the municipalities and at regional, national and European level to shape the opinions and decisions of political decision makers.
    • As an independent advocate of the market, they safeguard clear regulations that are binding for all market participants and fulfill a multitude of sovereign functions entrusted to business by the government to perform upon its own responsibility. They can only fulfill these two tasks optimally through all business enterprises being compulsory members of the CCI.
    • As a service provider for business, the CCI supports companies in achieving their objectives by providing them with first class products and services.
