@iLabAfrica is a Centre of Excel­lence in ICT Innov­a­tion and Devel­op­ment established in January 2011 under the Faculty of Information Technology at Strathmore University—the Centre became autonomous in 2017.

The Centre spearheads Research and Innovation in Information Communication Technology for the Development (ICT4D) of ecosystems towards the attainment of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Kenya’s Vision 2030.

Their main focus areas are:
- ICT Research and Innovation
- Entrepreneurship and Incubation
- ICT Outsourcing
- ICT Policy Research

They are involved in interdisciplinary research, students’ engagement and collaboration with government, industry and funding agencies.
