About

Imparsial is an NGO engaged in overseeing and investigating human rights violations in Indonesia. This institution is incorporated as a legal entity with the deed of establishment number 10/25 June 2002 by notary Rina Diani Moliza, SH.

Founded by 18 Indonesian human rights workers, Todung Mulya Lubis, Karlina Leksono, M. Billah, Wardah Hafidz, Hendardi, Nursyahbani Katjasungkana, Ade Rostina Sitompul, Robertus Robet, Binny Buchory, Kamala Chandrakirana, HS Dillon, Munir, Rachland Nashidik, Rusdi Marpaung, Otto Syamsuddin Ishak, Nezar Patria, Amiruddin, and Poengky Indarti.

The name Imparsial is taken from the word impartial: a view that glorifies the equality of the rights of each individual - in the diversity of the setting - to justice, with special attention to those who are less fortunate .

Impartiality translates Impartiality as a mandate to defend every victim of human rights violations without distinguishing their social origins, gender, ethnicity or race, as well as their political and religious beliefs.
