Indira Cancer Trust (ICT) was set up in memory of Indira Jayasuriya who passed away in November 2016 from breast cancer at the age of 40 years. She was a mother of two children and her story of courage, bravery and sacrifice as a mother moved the world.
The trust was initiated as the Cancer Care Trust in 2016 with specific objectives. However, it then evolved into Indira Cancer Trust with broader objectives in 2018.
THERE ARE THREE MAIN PROJECTS OF THE INDIRA CANCER TRUST
WHICH ARE BROADLY CATEGORIZED AS FOLLOWS:
1. CANCER HELPLINE
Sri Lanka’s first helpline exclusive for patients with Cancer.
2. INDIRA CARE SERVICE
This includes a multitude of projects including the Mobile Mammography Project, Hair & Wig donation, Livelihood Development as well as Relaxation Programs.
3. INDIRA PAEDIATRIC CARE
This includes support provided to children at the Apeksha Hospital Maharagama.
