About

YSDI (Yayasan Sindroma Down Indonesia) or previously known as ISDI (Ikatan Sindroma Down Indonesia or Indonesian Down syndrome Society) was formally established on 21 st April 1999. A non-profit support group of parents, medical professions, special-needs experts, teachers, and all of those who have deep concern.

They, as parents are very concerned of the future of children with Down syndrome in Indonesia especially when little is done to support them by the government or other non-profit organizations. They so look forward towards a better future by sharing their experiences and supporting each other in their monthly gatherings. This way they gain knowledge and their children benefit from their experiences.

They create social awareness by exposing their children to the community from the nearest and smallest such as their neighbors to the larger community by way of the media doing performances in public events and charitable deeds such as assisting the needy and the old.

As they have the same rights to be heard, seen and be given the same opportunities, they also try to prepare them by giving them various vocational trainings to suit their abilities and guiding them to reach their maximum potentials. This way they hope they will be able to live independently and be free of the negative label they are carrying now. So life seems to be bearable and the horizon seems to open up to give way for a bright and fruitful futures.
