The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) is the governmental authority for science and research in Indonesia. It consists of 47 research centers in the fields ranging from social to natural sciences. LIPI is a Non-Department Government Institution (NDGI) that is under and responsible to the President, and has the duty to carry out governmental duties on scientific researches in accordance with the provisions of the legislations in force.
