About

The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) is the governmental authority for science and research in Indonesia. It consists of 47 research centers in the fields ranging from social to natural sciences. LIPI is a Non-Department Government Institution (NDGI) that is under and responsible to the President, and has the duty to carry out governmental duties on scientific researches in accordance with the provisions of the legislations in force.

The formation of a just, enlightened, creative, integrated, and dynamic society, supported by science and technology.

 

MISSION

    • To master science and technology in the incessant efforts of strengthening national unity and of vitalizing the competitiveness of the nation
    • To participate in the endeavor to develop the national comunity through the sustainable development program
    • To promote a code of ethics for scientists

 

FUNCTIONS

    • To assess and to draft national policies on scientific researches;
    • To conduct researches on basic sciences;
    • To conduct  focused interdiscipinary and multidisciplinary researches;
    • To monitor, to evaluate progress, and to review tendencies of science and technology;
    • To coordinate functional activities on the implementation of LIPI’s duties;
    • To facilitate and to give coaching to scientific research activities in government institutions;
    • To perform coaching and general administration service in general planning, administration, organization and governance,  employee affair, finance, archives, law, coding, equipment and household.
