The Informal Settlements Development Facility (ISDF) is the Egyptian governmental body that is responsible for financing slums redevelopment projects.

  • Short term:Egypt with no unsafe zones in 2018
  • Medium term: Development of unplanned areas
  • Long-term: Comprehensive urban development to stop rural migration to cities and prevent the emergence of new informal areas

Policies

  • The Fund's policies are based on the realization of the principle of social justice and guaranteeing the citizen's right to secure housing; improving living and economic conditions through the following policies
  • Locating the inhabitants of the slums in the same locations or in the nearest neighborhood
  • Development of informal settlements with governorates in the framework of decentralization
  • Implement the principles of partnership with the people in the development of informal settlements
  • Ensure that the living and economic conditions of the population of the slums are maintained
  • Support partnership with civil society organizations and the private sector
  • Activating partnerships with donors to implement the country's priorities for the development of insecure areas
  • Integration of unplanned area development programs with unsafe areas
