Founded in 1971, the Institute for Demographic Training and Research (IFORD) is an inter-state organization bringing together 22 states in French-speaking Africa and the Indian Ocean.
In more than 40 years of existence, IFORD has provided training for several hundred African demographers and has asserted itself as a major player in research on “Population and Development” on the continent. IFORD also provides its member states and partners with its expertise for the collection, processing and analysis of demographic and social data, as well as for the definition and implementation of population policies. The headquarters of IFORD is located in Yaoundé (Cameroon) and the teaching premises are on the campus of the University of Yaoundé-1 at NGOA-EKELLE.
