About

PRESENTATION
The Food Technology Institute is an institute for research and development in food processing vocation founded in 1963. It is a Public Scientific and Technological (EPST) which is under the technical supervision of the Ministry for Industry.

VISION

The vision of the ITA is to be a leading institute in Senegal and the sub-region in terms of research and development generating knowledge and technological innovations for the development of the food industry and science.

Missions

Decree No. 98-981 of December 4, 1998 laying down the rules of organization and operation of the ITA defines its missions which are as follows:
- Conduct applied research to promote the optimal exploitation of agricultural production and its derivatives by agroindustrial sector enterprises, crafts and households in Senegal and the sub-region by developing technological processes in the processing and processing conservation of local agricultural products, livestock products and fishery products;
- Contribute to the performance of the agroindustrial sector in Senegal by providing a support and advice service in technological development, mainly through: assistance in advising on the control and quality of fresh and processed foods; technical assistance in the development of appropriate new technologies;
train technicians in the food trades;
- Ensure the development and dissemination of scientific and technical documentation relevant to its research activities.

HUMAN RESSOURCES

The Institute has a staff of 74 people including 24 specialists in food technology and scientific experts (PhD, Masters, engineers)
