The Institute for Systemic Management and Public Governance looks back on a long tradition and today, with around 70 employees, is one of the large and widely recognized research institutes of the University of St.Gallen.
Their research centers Tourism and Transport , Public Management and Governance , Regional Science and Organization Studies make an important contribution to international research, as well as to economic and social development.
They develop innovative, scientifically founded approaches, perspectives, methods and concepts in their research fields. Together with their partners, they are looking for promising business practices and sound decision-making bases for managers in private and public organizations and companies.
They rely on a partnership between practice representatives, researchers and students. This makes it possible to scientifically analyze problems and to develop practical solutions for socially relevant challenges.
An important frame of reference is the proven St. Gallen management model, which is currently in its fourth generation and which was developed at their institute. Individual specialist disciplines made the model more specific, and an independent St. Gallen model for destination management was even developed.
All activities of their institute and its four research centers are based on the pursuit of concrete effects. Accordingly, they have a common vision: They understand research as a search for new knowledge with which practice can become a little better. In other words: From insight to impact!
