Institut Pasteur de Tunis (IPT)
The IPT is under the supervision of the Ministry of Health. It assumes the missions fixed by Law 58-35 bearing its statute. This law defines the Pasteur Institute of Tunis as "a scientific research establishment according to the Pasteurian methods" .
Its role is "to carry out all investigations, missions, analyzes or scientific research of interest to human or animal public health or to the economic development of Tunisia". "He prepares biological products such as vaccines, serums, antigens whose production would seem necessary". He also has "the faculty to collaborate in higher education in Tunisia" .
In January 1995, the IPT was erected in Public Health Establishment(EPS) by decree 95-186 which gives it a Board of Directors and a Scientific Council and strengthens its management capacities. The scientific staff of the IPT, governed by a Special Statute defined by the Decree 98-794 of April 6, 1998 participates, as well as the pharmacists and veterinary medical executives, in the activities of Research, Development, Higher Education and supervision of students.
The IPT has signed scientific cooperation agreements with many foreign scientific institutions, in particular with the Institut Pasteur in Paris, with whom it links close scientific partnerships. The Pasteur Institute of Tunis is a member of the Institut Pasteur International Network .See more
