They have been forecasting weather since 1919, conducting analyzes and research works. Weather and climate is one of the most important topics in the modern world. They are an Institute of high-class professionals and they have the necessary infrastructure.
Their mission is to inform the public and organizations about weather conditions - meteorological and hydrological, climate change and all factors affecting the current weather in Poland.
The main task of IMGW-PIB is to provide meteorological protection for Poland. To this end, the IMGW Monitor was created - a service for all national operational services and administrative bodies. As part of their statutory activities, they make, develop and provide meteorological forecasts, warnings of dangerous phenomena occurring in the atmosphere, and dedicated messages and newsletters.
Today's climate conditions have a huge impact on the life, economy, economy and us - the inhabitants of the Earth. In Poland, they encounter many anomalies and unprecedented phenomena for which they must be prepared in the coming years. IMGW-PIB experts and specialists constantly analyze data, introduce changes in forecast models and look for new ways to predict in what weather conditions Poland, Europe and the world will be.
They are a member of many international organizations. They represent Poland on the WMO (World Meteorological Organization) or Eumetsat (European Organization for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites) forum. They participate in research from the Arctic to Africa. Their measurement, observation and research network covers all of Poland. The Institute is preparing for many challenges. The new infrastructure, modern communication platforms as well as the range of services and forecasting models will be tailored to the expectations of partners, institutions, customers and society.
