INP established by Law No. 231 in 1960 as the first independent think tank institute in the area for Planning and Development.

INP was the first institute concerned with development planning in the Arab Region, the Middle East & the African Continent.

INP cooperated with several International partners such as UN organizations in order to undertake applied research and studies needed for planning the economic and social sectors.

INP cooperated with several Regional partners in African and Arab countries.
